Self Discovery

“We can’t be afraid of change. You may feel very secure in the pond that you are in, but if you never venture out of it, you will never know that there is such a thing as an ocean, a sea. Holding onto something that is good for you now, may be the very reason why you don’t have something better.”

From The Beginning:

Early in life one of my challenges was exploring new areas when I was already comfortable in the ones I was in. I liked that cozy feeling I would get from routines. I never looked to the horizon because I was well grounded where I was. There isn’t anything wrong with appreciating where you’re at and what you’ve got. In fact, before you can look forward you absolutely have to have an appreciation and understanding of where you are now and the forces that got you there. However, staying in one spot when there is a whole world to visit isn’t necessarily in your best interest. Learning new things, growing as a person, developing oneself and one’s character is really what life is all about. Change is not bad. In fact, it is good. Repeat after me: change is good. Change IS good.

There have been those moments in my life where I was poised on the brink of something; something transient and fleeting, but ultimately magical. Instead of seizing that day, seizing that moment, which assuredly never came again, I hesitated.

He who hesitates is lost.

That old adage is meant to mean that offers or opportunities can quickly be rescinded or go to someone else if you do not use them. I think it can also mean it is only the lost person who hesitates. When you know who and what you are, you have the confidence to carry you into the unknown. It is a sign that you truly are confident and healthy when you can change something, or adopt a change in your life.

Then Comes Yoga:

This year my life has changed in so many ways. I have taken on the role of entrepreneur, starting my own yoga business, I traveled to many countries including hosting my first international yoga retreat, my family moved to a different state, and I recently moved into a new house! Everything in my life relates back to yoga in one way or another because I have learned so much from the practice. We all get comfortable, we all hit plateaus, but the goal is to move past them. To change, and try something new. We stretch, we reach, and we develop and emerge. I hope that you change something in your life, something that may be tiny or huge. I hope that you use that change to grow into something amazing.
