Often in life, we find ourselves at a crossroads, contemplating what path is the right choice. We constantly wonder whether we are making the wrong decision or taking a misstep. Mistakes are part of what makes us human, but holding onto past mistakes can prevent us from clearly seeing where we are trying to go next. Life is all about finding the passageway that brings us the most joy, which makes us feel the most fulfilled. With so many different options, we cannot always be convinced that we are making the right decision. In fact, more times than not, we never know if we made the right choice. The question we normally ask ourselves is “What if?” If I had taken a different route, would I end up in a better position or not? The real question we should ask ourselves is: Am I happy
We should concern ourselves with the present moment, opposed to dwelling on the past or anticipating the future. By replaying past mistakes over and over again in our head, we’re allowing our feelings to shape our actions in the present. If we cling to frustration and worrying about the future, it’s as if the fixation somehow gives us power. The moment we’re ready to give up can sometimes be the moment right before something amazing happens! Finding our edge in life, literally the place where we don’t think we can go any further, only pushes us to find the next plateau. The best way to do this is to let go
Why is it that we are constantly our own biggest skeptics, instead of our biggest cheerleaders? I felt this way for a long time, before I found yoga. I regularly contemplated the unhappiness that I felt with work and life in general, consistently wondering if I had made the right choices. How can we give ourselves the heavy load of making the right decisions, when our minds are racing with so many thoughts? Even when we sleep, we may not allow our minds to relax. Our subconscious often takes over and we dream vividly. Focusing the mind on nothing allows the brain to take a much-needed break
Through yoga we can allow our minds to clear, and give our minds time to relax.
